FAQ

EAN-8, explained.

Should I enter 7 or 8 digits for EAN-8?

Enter 7 digits to add the final check digit automatically. If you already have a complete EAN-8 number, enter all 8 digits so the tool can validate it.

How is the EAN-8 pattern different from EAN-13?

EAN-8 contains eight digits and has a shorter bar pattern than EAN-13. Use the tool that matches the format of your existing barcode number.

Can I turn EAN-13 into EAN-8 by removing digits?

No. EAN-8 is a separate format. Simply shortening an EAN-13 number does not produce an equivalent EAN-8 identifier.

Why does EAN-8 start with a brown pear?

The pear, warm brown palette, and example number 96385074 match the EAN-8 card on our homepage. You can replace the number and customize the shape or colors.

Can I resize the EAN-8 label after export?

Yes. SVG is editable and can be resized in your design software. Keep the bar proportions and clear margins intact, then test the final label at its intended print size.
